Hyams Beach: Simple and practical
design/layout was the basis of this open-plan weekender
at Hyams Beach. Designed to maximize bay and bushland
views from living areas. Steel hand rails and cabling
were created to minimize the obstruction of the outlook.
This design won the Master Builders Excellence in
Housing Award – Design and Construct in 2006.
Judges comments, “A simple and practical design

Narrawallee: Another example
of Mark’s simple and practical design embracing
the beach and coastal views. Recycled timber from
the original residence was used structurally and
as feature benchtops in the study. The house was
designed with an emphasis on open-plan living with
a casual and relaxed feel. This house won the HIA
ACT/Southern NSW Coastal Home of the Year 2006. |

Narrawallee: A new residence designed
by Mark for a local family on a vacant block. The
design utilized light weight materials with combinations
of colorbond and fibre-cement sheeting with an
open hardwood deck. It was important to the client
to have a semi-private area for their teenage children
which acted as a multifunction study and rumpus
room with direct access between the kids’ bedrooms,
kitchen and outdoor living area. |
